About Alec.
Alec Helm, a native of Maine, has been making films since age 11. His introduction to commercial directing was in 2012, as an in-house director at DDB New York. In his first year, he racked up 5 Cannes Lions wins, 3 Webby Awards, amongst wins and placements in every other advertising award show. His first ad, filmed in Haiti for the charity WATERisLIFE, became an instant viral hit and was featured on the front page of CNN.
Alec excels at filming internationally, having filmed on every continent (except Antartica—let him know if you want to go), where he has brought to life stories of every shape and size, from the small and personal to the grand and sweeping. A skilled director of both documentary and narrative styles, Alec creates work that is cinematic while always grounded in real emotion.
Alec first travelled to Ireland with his family when he was 12, and fell in love with the Emerald Isle’s beauty, culture, and history. Visiting Blarney castle is one of his favorite childhood memories.
